with similar or exceeding outputs, of course the 3 cylinder will be priced similarly to the current base 4 cylinder
If you are right then it means you have to spend more money next generation to get the same capacity engine... See where people are going with this? It isn't simply spec a bigger engine then, it's spend more money.

Personally I wouldn't want less than the 170odd BHP 4 banger I have in a 3, that is already as low as I'd go, it follows I (and likely many others judging on the reactions) would definitely want more than that in a heavier 5 series. Hence why I asked Scott if the 20d would be getting a power hike.
As far as I recall, I4 surpassed na I6 in every category except engine noise.
