Featured on BIMMERPOST.com On regular roads (probably from the launch in Portugal). All the readings are from the odo, but you can get the idea... Sport mode with ESP off. 0-96kmh (60mph):4.87 secs 0-100kmh (62mph): 5.31 secs. 0-161kmh (100mph): 11.2 secs. 0-200kmh (124mph): 17.14 secs. 0-209kmh (130mph): 18.62 secs. 0-250kmh (155mph): 30.33 secs. to give you an idea C/D measures for the previous gen 535i: http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...ad-test-review Zero to 60 mph (96km/h): 5.7 sec Zero to 100 mph (161km/h): 14.1 sec Zero to 130 mph (209km/h): 25.6 sec So it means with odo error, but not being measured on a drag strip, the new car is about 1 sec faster to 60mph, 3 secs faster to 100mph, and 7 secs faster to 130mph, which is amazing! To give you an idea compared to the previous 550i (Auto): http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...trumented-test Zero to 60 mph: 4.8 sec Zero to 100 mph: 11.0 sec Zero to 130 mph: 19.0 sec So the new 540i is about as fast as the last gen 550i! So it means that a lighter car and better engine can do wonders in performance, and it's not even an X drive!

Wow those numbers are great! Wonder what the new M550's numbers are.
Also, a small clarification...those 550 numbers are from pre-LCI which had 45 hp less and 30 tq less than the current 550 |

I attribute that mostly to the weight saving. 4090 lbs in old car vs 3461 lbs in the new one. 630 lbs savings is huge, absolutely stupendous.

^^^This Couldn't think of a better word if I tried; "Stupendous" is the truth, and it really does make that much of a difference. Just think about all those track enthusiasts and race car drivers paying 12k for carbon forged wheels to save ~5kg on the GTS (correct me if I'm wrong please. Pretty sure I've read that a few times), or thousands more for seats or whatever it may be. That much weight loss (600+lbs) on any new model alone would most definitely make a "stupendous" difference |

Really a 630lb reduction in weight with the G30? That's significant to say the least. I haven't read up on the new one

I think you're wrong. On the BMW Germany website the G30 540i weighs 1670kg or 3682 lbs (with 90% fuel and 75kg driver). The previous 535i weighs 1765kg (Auto) or 3891 lbs. A difference of 95 kgs or 209 lbs.
