My 2017 G30 just Arrived - Pics
Picked up the new G30 M sport Last week, Apline white with Individual Mocca Leather & upgraded 19 inch alloys
My experience so far.. All I can say is its a great car, love the quality of the interior, with the digital dash & the ambient lighting it feels much more modern than the F10 & feels a few generations ahead. The comfort seats are also amazing & recommended. It feels miles ahead of the Mercedes E class, which I test drove. The Benz only looks good in pictures, I was very disappointed with the quality of the merc and the ugly digital dash looks like a low quality tablet. On top of all that the ergonomics of the E class are terrible. Having both touch screen & the Idrive , as well as the memory buttons makes, things very easy to operate. It's absolutely perfect. Not a great fan of the shiny plastic surround which can leave fingerprints, but apart from that you cannot fault this car. Another much improved feature is voice control, it learns your voice and gets better and better each time. Now I say every destination I want to go and it goes, I say who I want to call & it works without any fuss. Although it looks reasonable large, it feels very small to drive. For a 520d it's not bad on speed and often you cannot tell how fast you are going. Here is a couple of pics for you guys Last edited by Dalj1; 03-23-2017 at 01:37 PM.. |

Lovely congrats. Nappa really is nice isn't it? Ambient lighting looks really super.

What makes it like the older 80's models? I assume you are thinking the E28 & E34. |

I believe the most closest comparison is the E34, I guess that was late 80s, early 90s. I would say it's slightly more driver oriented than the E39.

I have M Sport suspension on 19inch run flat tyres and I can just hear everyone screaming VDC. However I find the ride fine. I have owned many sports cars which have been a lot lower, and a much harder ride. Currently also own a F12 convertible on 20inch rims. Maybe it's because Iam use to this type of ride that I find this G30 smooth. I have also owned a few older 7 series & a Bentley continental GT & to be honest it's pretty similar. Obviously technology has caught up that even a standard 5 m sport is smooth. I wouldn't rule out VDC, but it depends what kind of ride your use to. If you want a complete smooth ride and money is not an option get it. But I am happy with the set up. |

"Hi, I'd like to take a G30 out. I'm curious about the ride quality/handling, not bothered about any of the new tech" "No problem sir, this is the car we've got available" "What, that drug dealer special slammed on MSport suspension and ridiculous 20" rims and runflats ?" "We think you'll be pleasantly surprised by the ride sir" (in my head)"Yeah yeah, whatever, I know everything there is to know about BMW suspension and there is no way this car is going to ride well" (take the car out and run it over every pothole, cat's eye and rough bit of tarmac I can find for 40 minutes. Car is firm but nicely damped, rides like I imagine an Alpina D5 would, impact harshness is the same as my F10 with AD and non-runflats, no tramlining, no hopping etc) "Erm, you were right. Blimey" |

interesting about the suspension
I had at least vdc in my head for my purchase this time but perhaps it is not necessary. only a test drive will tell. funnily enough the dealership rang me today left a voicemail asking if I wanted to look at the new 5 so I will take them up on that offer. see if they have a 540i msport going spare..... |
