Hey all,
Third BMW, first post! I have a confirmed order in the pipeline, starting production week 4. Specs and crude photoshops as follows: Individual Brewster Green (afaik the only one?) Shadowline Red brake calipers 668M wheels Basically every option EXCEPT things got a little wild with my interior…. I initially submitted my spec in October with full Tartufo Merino interior from the Individual palette and the Aluminum Dark Carbon Structure trim out of the M5. I hadn't even considered that was possible until I found a guy on Instagram who had it done (BRG over Caramel Merino with that trim, absolutely gorgeous), so I gave it a shot. The dark carbon structure trim is the only option that replaces the satin aluminum trim pieces with gloss black, much like the trim option I loved on my old 340. BMW confirmed the paint right away but I waited several weeks for their word on the interior. Late November they came back and said due to "supply chain issues" any Merino interior would be (I hope you're sitting down) $13,000. A year ago that would have been $3,700, so, thanks but lol no. Obviously that puts it into M5 territory price-wise, and those options are available standard there, but it's not so much a cost consideration as it is a matter of my utter incredulity that this was apparently not an invitation for a counter-offer. So I was somewhat unfortunately left with Cognac Dakota as my only option if I want a proper green over tan combination, which is my primary goal with this spec. Took a weekend to calm down and think it over, decided it's not a deal breaker and will proceed. As for the sexy interior trim, BMW said they won't install it at the factory but I can of course order the parts for $5,100 and have them installed (plus labor, I guess). I still may opt to do this after delivery, but in the meantime I went with the open-pore grey ash and that will all be fine for the time being. I've got the leather dash and alcantara headliner in there as well. Additionally I may order the cerium grey mirror housings separately as I think that would lend a nice visual balance with the cerium grey wheels. Attached is a slapdash photoshop I've done which approximates the paint color, but to really get a sense of it I've relied on examples from the Porsche PTS palette that I've seen in person as well as online. Below is a yt link with a Brewster Green 911 GT2 RS, with full PPF and slathered in ceramic, which I will of course also have done. On a non-metallic paint, having that extra deep layer of gloss really sends it. Anyway, I have enjoyed reading some of your spec experiences and look forward to chatting if there is any interest in mine! Best, -Alex |

Very strange pricing for you. The Merino leather in tartufo, caramel or smoke white only costs 3150 Euro on the M550i in Europe. And I paid about 1200 for the "sexy interior trim" and that included Bmw individual to mount them.
Although I asked about getting an individual manufaktur merino leather with dark green dash and piping on the caramel and that did cost about 15000 Euro and should make the building process last 15-20 extra weeks which it wasn't worth for me so I turned that offer down (both money and building time would be to high/long). Only heard of one person who did order such a pricy interior on the german motor-talk forum where someone ordered a graphite merino interior with black piping. https://www.motor-talk.de/bilder/bil...210259571.html |

That looks stunning, congrats. Looking forward to seeing real pictures after it arrives.
I'm, yes, still waiting for an allocation.

I had a hard time which green to choose when ordering my first individual 435 6 years ago in BRG. That was before the wonderful Individual visualizer so I asked Bmw Individual of different shades of green and got an answer with 4 och 5 different dark green colors and tried to google them before finally choosing. Sorry for you that there seems to have been a change so lately with the merino interior and the interior trims. Have you checked if you could order the trim as a part for a M5 for a better price? Im happy my instagram account inspired you with the trim but sad that you couldn't order it the easy way I did. |

FYI:
In September, when I requested Full Merino Leather (which covers more area than "Extended") I was originally told it wasn't available on the 5 Series in North America. After I wrote a letter (in German) to the M-Sport manager in München I got a reply from the M-Sport people in BMW-USA basically saying it was a mis-understanding and to resubmit my order. After the request was sent to Germany and approved I go everything I asked for. Full Merino for my M550i had an MSRP of 5995 USD. My M550i was built and shipped. It's presently at the port and in need of two retrofit modules, one for Audio RAM and one for the Parking control module. The interior should look like this: Last edited by M1903a3; 01-29-2022 at 03:03 PM.. |

I wrestled with getting the Dakota leather over Nappa. I just could not do another black interior and the ivory white and mocha, while nice, just didn’t look as good to me as the cognac with bernina grey.
Many people rip the Dakota as being cheap and like pigskin football leather. I have had both Nappa and Dakota in previous BMWs. If BMW offered the cognac in Nappa, I probably would have paid extra, however, I personally do not find the Dakota in my M550 cheap or less desirable in any way. I’m happy. I look forward to seeing photos of the Brewster Green when finished, it will be awesome!
