Indeed. It is playing on the S Class which is very good thing. I am not a huge fan of the new 7 interior in comparison to the S-Class.

August 12, 2015 Update
G30 prototypes are beginning to drop some camouflage, now exposing parts of the headlights and tail lights. We also get a first look at the G30 interior, which borrows cues from the new G11/G12 7 Series interior. |

"Borrows cues"? As far as we can see its almost the same. Cant see it all but rear lights seems to be very mich like the ones in the G11 aswell..
hopefully it looks sharper/sleeker than the G11 and not just a smaller version of it like MB is doing with its lineup. |

it looks like a dramatic facelift.
not even that dramatic in some respects. it'll certianly not look as good as the current one. when are they going to come off this whole headlights merging with grill thing?

The F10 is still gorgeous (actually ordering a new one this week). So I hope they don't change much with the G30.
I am sadden though to see that full LCD cluster inside. I know it's to be expected but the Digital + Analog style of the "Extended Black Panel" display in the F10 is a lot more classy. I mean Kia's and Ford's have full LCD gauge clusters now. LCD screens are cheaper than the hybrid design we currently have and requires so little effort from designer and engineers. I know its in some F10's and I'm glad we don't get that here in the US. It's really a downgrade in disguise. -Time Last edited by TimeFor; 08-12-2015 at 08:01 PM.. |

Yes, my second complaint so far. I had an F33 with the screen like this and hated it. 2-3 times more glare than my F10 had.
Side note, I do kind of like that little bit of leather above the wood trim and just in front of the screen. Not sure if the new 7 is like that or not. Last edited by TimeFor; 08-13-2015 at 11:15 AM.. |

Interiors looks like it will be almost identical to 7 series except some cosmetic elements. Exterior also looks a lot like the new 7. I expect the difference between 5 & 7 no more than what we have in current generation.

am I the only one seeing a hint of E39 in the shape of the headlights and in some of the proportions? really different than the current one IMO....a little retro in the headlight shapes.
these cars are waaaaay to big for me to actually be interested but I would be happy if BMW goes a bit retro for their future cars |

I agree, I am really glad about the weight savings! There is no way any competitor of the M5 will have similar weight then. And the e-diff and active aero are interesting ideas. The e-diff might be slightly updated and I hope they involve Traction control in the diff like ferrari, where you can get a lot of slip while the diff saves you. I wish The traction control could be more forgiving and not aggressive as it always makes you push wide suddenly in the M6 at least, so I just turn it all off, which isnt really smart for safe driving. About active aero, Im sure it wont be implemented as the car is too big to make effective use of aero. And it would alienate too much (with opening and closing flaps) from the base 5 series which BMW cant simply do. Well, maybe they can but you would have too expect a significant price rise!
