AC dead, again. FTLOG, please don't be the evaporator.
Hey gang. Initial Google searches aren't giving me a lot of results. ...well, except for the top result, which is a guy that had to have the evaporator replaced.
My AC died like a month and a half ago. Mechanic pressure tested it, and they said no leaks. Now it's dead again. Who here has had AC issues, and what were they? Are there common leak points on these cars? For the love of all that is holy, please please please don't be the evaporator!!! That's like a $7k plus job!!!! |

What did your mechanic change that made it work for 1.5 months ?
I would start there.

There is never a situation where an AC system "only needs recharging". They are fully sealed. A recharge means that there is a leak. How often do you recharge your fridge?
The new refrigerant that was added to your car is gone again. That's your issue. If you don't fix the leak it will keep happening. |

Once, my E39 developed a leak in the compressor, which was almost impossible to find. That could be a possibility. If your mechanic is not an HVAC expert then you probably need to find a specialized shop to test everything again.

As someone else mentioned, i'd take it to an HVAC specialist. The refrigerant also acts as a lubricant, and not having any is no bueno. Don't run your AC without any refrigerant in it.
