Thats Tanzanite Blue without sun on it, so is dark blue to the eye.
At night - it is almost black to all intents.
Very happy with it.
The red for sure pops more, but so many experiences with red fading over the years I keep them - I decided against.

Good too see my response went through. SonD lift isn’t meant to be agitated. It doesnt have lubricity like reset to protect your paint from marring. Foam it on, let it dwell as long as you can without it drying, then spray off. Car looks great anyhow!

I’d like to see Tanzanite, Carbon Black, and Azurite Black all next to each other, in person, in different lights. The descriptions from owners of all three are very similar. I know CB and AB would be the most similar and Tanzanite is probably the most blue. It would just be cool to see them all side by side.

From the descriptions and threads I’ve read (been researching) you either have to really know your stuff or already know the colors to tell AB and CB apart 90% of the time.

I got to do a really thorough wash on the 540 yesterday, inside and out. Got the steering wheel and front seats pretty good, including Duragloss on the seats Joe-BMW33

Tires and wheels with Adam’s T&W cleaner
Foam and rinse Reset
Two bucket with Reset
Adam’s VRT on tires

It’s misting today and later this week, but after the freeze and highway miles the last few weeks, it still needed. And the interior will stay clean. Now I can just foam/rinse and maintain the clean until we get another freeze.

On another note: I also washed the X7, complete with doing a quick clean of the front seats and steering wheel (leather cleaner and brush). It took 2.5 hours! Granted, it had several highway trips and the freeze fallout all over it. I have come to a few conclusions after washing both:

1) Coatings are worth it if you like your car clean. 540 is coated, X7 is not. I had to go back over several spots on the X7 even after a foam/rinse followed but two bucket wash. I didn’t have to go back over any spots on the 540. The coating would have saved me time.

2) I’m either going to have the X7 coated or I’m going to not give a shit about car washes, etc. There is no in between unless I want to spend 4-8 hours a month on the X7 and I don’t.

3) I think the wife and kids fuck up the interior on purpose. No other explanation. Nothing that can’t be cleaned, but holy shit.

4) I’m definitely getting some Sonax wheel cleaner. The time savings alone is worth it.

Bonus for Joe-BMW33 - I added a light layer of the Duragloss to the leather dash on the X7 after I cleaned it with some leather cleaner and a MF towel. It really gave it a nice look.

Here is my car in the shade. I like how it looks in less light over what the color looks like on a bright sunny day. But either way its a stunning color.

The lambs wool polishing & microfibre washing mitts that I asked Mrs Chappers to get me for my upcoming Birthday arrived today, haven’t had a chance to use them yet as I’d already cleaned the G31 before they arrived

Only touchless car washes for this guy. I got my wife a 2023 X5 in Manhattan Green Metallic and that has only seen hand washes by me and touchless car washes between those.

I decided to buy a buffer and some paint restoration materials and will attempt the paint correction myself. We’ve got a G8 and old Escape for me to practice on before putting a pad to my M550.

Are you doing the touchless washes? Touchless automatic car washes use some pretty harsh chemicals. Hopefully the X5 is ceramic coated if you're using the automatic washes.

They’ll be stiff within a day from all the popping, like a sock.

Ive alway found the lambs wool or any animal hair too stiff for my liking. Maybe I’ve just been looking at synthetic shit, stuff felt more like boars hair.

I have yet to try the Sonax but I got this in a galllon after buying a regular bottle and it worked phenomenally.

It's safe to use on paint too so I decon the whole car with including the wheels and it cleans the wheels too. No agitation needed, especially not on the paint.

I just picked up an X5, mineral white, for winter. I threw a coat of C2V3 on it and I am going to use the new touchless wash down the street. As OCD as I am about the M550 which is CBM, the chemical factor in the unknown soap at the touchless wash is the only unknown. It’s a matter of picking your poison in the winter. Nothing will be touching the X5, not even a wipe down. I just don’t care about the car that much, but still want to protect it from swirls. I’ll get it corrected and ceramic’d after the winter and then eliminate the touchless wash.

I just picked up an X5, mineral white, for winter. I through a coat of C2V3 on it and I am going to use the touchless wash down the street. As OCD as I am about the M550 which is CBM, the chemical factor in the unknown soap at the touchless wash is the only unknown. It’s a matter of licking your poison in the winter. Nothing will be touching the X5, not even a wipe down. I just don’t care about the car that much, but still want to protect it from swirls. I’ll get it corrected and ceramic’d after the winter and then eliminate the touchless wash.
I had a 2016 mineral white X5 40e. Great color in sunlight.

On a side note looks like the chip shortage is over, the dealership was packed with cars. Took some pics, below is a M5 next to M550i, very similar to my car even the same color. Only difference I could tell from my car was the new BMW logo and the fancy ribbon on the hood
