local bmw dealership sells OEM sparkpkugs for $59 CAD each

just want to know what everyone has done just bought this 750i has 106k kms have all service records looks like spark plugs were never done and the local bmw service department conducted and passed the out of province inspection, looked in their systems could find spark plugs ever being done.

should i pay dealership price or go for the ones in the link? Also wanted to know good idea replace all iginiton coils while im in there or leave it as I did purchase extended warranty; bmw dealer said iginition coils should only be replaced if theres an issue.

car is bone stock and im not going to do anything to it dont really drive hard just a odd pull here and there.

I have never purchased plugs from the dealer. I always purchase online. Just buy from a legit, authorized reseller so you don't get Chinese counterfiet plugs. The seller you listed looks legit. (Amazon and eBay are filled with shady sellers, though I found one on eBay, "PartsContainer" that is a legit Bosch and NGK reseller)

I don't understand when the idea of replacing coils preventively came about, but on my 2001 BMW 540 M-Sport I have about 584,000 kms and only replaced two coils on my M62 V8 in 23 years. Both failed about six years ago, and about 6 months apart. Haven't had another failure since. They are easy to swap, so I keep a spare on the shelf in my garage.
With so little kms, I would not recommend replacing coils preventively...not until you are at least 200,000+ kms. For now, just buy one oem coil and keep it handy. I am assuming you have a OBD2 bluetooth scanner tool and phone app, so if a coil fails, you have a quick way to identify which one.

Dealer just did the plugs on my M550 for $350 bucks all in. No brainer.

In terms of coils, I never do these preventatively. I wait for one to go and then I’ll do them all. I’ve never had a coil go before 100k miles. When a coil starts to go, it will start with a mild misfire, one that you can’t feel but will throw a CEL. Plenty of time to address and not leave you stranded. Of course if a coil blows from another failure, like coolant blowing all over it, that will fry the coil. Preventatively changing it will just blow a brand new coil in that case.

dealer here wants $913 CAD, so I am tackling this job myself bought some tools…but thanks for educating me on coils!

Ask your dealer for the value service pricing. Not sure if they are offering it in Canada, but worth a shot.
