I like the design on these better than the actual LCI due to the way these are angled narrower towards the grill; gives it a more aggressive look.

This topic is one of the reasons why I decided to sign up in this forum! You guys are more open minded than most of the guys in the German boards I'm part of.

I really like the look of you headlights, looks superb and really unique.

No chance for us over here in Germany to do this because of the missing "E" sign on the headlights you need for the insurance coverage.

Enjoy your new headlights, I hope they will last a long time

Much appreciated.
Ive since changed once again to the adaptive icon headlights. Got an opportunity to get a pair.

Before I chose to try the LCI style, I was inbetween the Adaptives vs LCI. I really like the Angel eye look, which to me is iconic BMW. The LCI style were nice as well and different as not many have it with the Pre-LCI front end and they were very bright as well.
I still have the LCI style in my garage but, as of right now, rocking with the Adaptives.
I added a light smoke ppf to these headlights as well.

Fully agree, actually my car has the adaptive headlights with the iconic DRL. I also like the look of the LCI headlights when seeing them on the road. How about the light output of the LCI-look headlights, are they comparable to the original ones? I'd assume that the original ones are brighter at night. But to be honest, when you don't drive at night very often it is negligible. Thanks for sharing your experience with us!

The LCI headlight output is actually brighter than the pre-lci.

So I have the Pre LCI non icons. Want the icons as well. Don’t think the blue lci would go with the dark grey color. What coding or modules did you need to swap to icons being that you’re pre and no icon factory option? Also can you activate that auto adaptive bright option that the icons have?

It required coding which was about $80 to get done. The modules came with the lights i got.
I dont think you can activate auto adaptive brights as you wouldnt have the button for it. (At least i dont believe)

So you have the LCI adaptive “icons” now? In a pre lci car? Was it really plug and play with coding? I thought you needed the whole lci front bumper for some reason.

No, his car is photographed above- pre LCI with the pre LCI Icon lights (my favorite as well, LCI headlights look a bit generic).

Can you explain the difference between the PRE-LCI headlight options, seems like you've tried them all. I'm pretty sure I have the base LED on my pre-LCI. They don't look like your "icons" but I'm trying to figure out what's different on the ICONS vs mine since mine do seem to be adaptive, when I turn the wheel the light turns with it but it doesn't say icon and it has the more round rings.

THEN there are the "laser" headlights, that if I understand correctly are like the Audi headlights with the matrix technology. Are those only LCI, or was there a pre-lci /laser option.

Basically if anyone knows all the options for PRE-LCI and LCI that would help me wrap my head around it.

Final question, all LCI lights will require the LCI front bumper to fit? Or do they fit with either bumper.

Adaptive for these cars refers to the icon lights that have highbeams which "adapt" with oncoming traffic. Previous adaptive lights were called that due to those turning features with steering that's become standard.

Laser are only oem LCI, what the original poster here has are lights that replicate the laser light look in pre LCI housing.

So for pre LCI, there are base lights (yours) and Icons for OEM. Aftermarket there are Icon style and this Laser LCI style

LCI lights are shaped differently at the bottom so different bumper is required. Same hood and fenders though

Actually you can activate the adaptive feature on pre LCI cars with the LED headlights. Many of us have had it done through coding. There are a few threads here about it.

Are you talking about the non icon pre lci? Any chance you can share an example. I’d love to code that on my non icon pre lci … I think.

Super helpful. So is matrix and laser the same thing for lci?

For lci oem options it’s what laser style with the blue line, and what else?

I don’t think I’d ever change bumpers just to change headlights, but never say never. I really like the matrix tunnel effect on the lights that can do that. Would make for great nighttime driving on woodsy dark roads, which I do very often.

I’m seeing what you mention for the adaptive icon led lights but no mention of converting the base led. As far as I can tell its hardware differences. Do you have the icons?

His profile says he has an m550ix. Just looking at the couple hundred for sale nationwide, I can't find any that have base headlights, and a couple forum posts that mention the adaptive Icon lights were standard when they ordered. I don't think he has base LED headlights
