It mainly comes down to the exhaust manifold design. The BMW TTV8s use a cross-bank manifold to mix exhaust gas pulses coming out of different cylinders in a specific order going into the two turbos which helps reduce turbo lag and also helps them breathe a little better at high RPMs than a more traditional type of manifold. The cross-bank manifold lets BMW take advantage of the benefits of twin-scroll turbos in the S63 while locating them in the V of the engine so there is a shorter path for air to take, again increasing responsiveness.

I agree with you, the AMGs sound excellent but there are some benefits to what BMW is doing at the expense of a more traditional deep & rumbling V8 exhaust sound. The S63 will always sound like an S63 but there are a number of great exhaust options to seriously improve the situation!

This is going to be the most beautiful looking 5 series in decades.

It's looking like a combination of the X5/X6 and M4 design languages.

I see what looks like the same vertical slats as the M4 on the outer edges of the bumper however at a more slanted angle.

I see an area similar to the black strips that are at the top of the two air inlets on the X5/X6

I suspect this thing will have a somewhat aggressive front end. It seems they're whole approach with this new car is more aggressive as seen by the fact that we will be getting a CF roof this time around.

You're going to like it a lot.

The front looks much better without the camo and the side has more than the camo shows....

I think Mercedes uses the same 'Hot V' configuration.

The AMG M177/M178 have a hot-V turbo setup as well. They sound substantially better than BMW TTV8s.

Yes they use the hot V setup, so does Audi. I don't believe either of them use the cross bank manifold and firing order BMW does though.

And the M157 sounds absolutely brutal compared to the M177. After having driven the AMG GTS I thought it sounded more like an Audi V8 than an AMG because it lacked that deep rumble of the M157 and especially the M156.

Despite being a huge fan of AMG V8's, I also like the S63's engine note because it's unique in its own way as if they were trying to making it sound like a high revving engine or something and it sort of works, although nowhere near as good as an S65. Just wish it was a bit louder stock. AMG, SVR and RS don't make you buy sport exhausts to make your car louder - they're loud from the factory.

BMW did the Hot V first in its most modern iteration. I think arriving second to the party gave Mercedes time to massage their exhaust note more. I think the overall sound of the S63TU is fine it just needs more volume.

The front, especially the headlights reminds me a lot like my X6M. Wish it's more different as I seriously considering the M5 as next car and don't want it to look like my X6M...

Why is this called a Fxx-generation and not Gxx?

Instead of applying camo and testing for two years please make sure after 5years of almost indentical parts (brakes, engine) that bmw addresses wheel bearing noises and brake squeal.

You do realize the SUVs, M6 vert, M2, and let's add the M4 vert (since you mantioned the 6) make up half of the line up of M cars right? It's like you thought 90% of M cars came with a CF roof so it was a given on this M5.

Yes BMW needs to save weight on this generation so the CF roof isn't a surprise. But what about when the X3M and X4M come out? Do you expect CF roofs? Doubt it.

There are two cars in the new pictures. The one with the plate ending in 31 has xenons, the one ending in 39 had LEDs. My guess is not standard, cause BMW.

New shots show almost a half dropped rear and from the rear kerb side uk angle the fronts look like they have a poor gap to the arch on them. Maybe just the car sliding on the track, both front and back look like they are closer to the arches than current model. Spacers? Lol!!! The rear looks a little higher than I would like, maybe the camo......

Judging by the orange indicator blub in those shots I wouldn't bank on it.

LED Headlights will be standard on all 5 series, with Adaptive LED, Icon Adaptive LED, and Laser as options or standard depending on the model and market.

Time will tell, they look like orange indicator blubs to me.

Yes, the non-adaptive LED headlights have halogen indicators.
