Yeah that's the area the tech pointed to and showed me the leak. Can you tell me more about it?

Re: push back on Route 66, I checked the paperwork and it does say hoses aren't covered and the guy on the phone did say that I had the best plan but none of their plans cover hoses. That's fine. I'm going to get all the hoses replaced because 90% of the labor is removing all the crap to get to the hoses and I don't want to pay for that again because another hose went a short while later.

Here's a picture of the leaking hose. It is not the braided ones going to the turbos.

Which one was it exactly? This one seems to be different from the turbo coolant lines. It seems its designation as a 'hose' disqualifies it. Wonder what one would say to push back on it.

For me it was the turbo coolant lines. Tell you service advisor to tell Route66 it's a coolant line and not hose.

I am also wondering what coolant expansion tank replacement means. This hose is coming out of the reservoir on the top right driver's side. Is that the 'expansion tank'? If so, this same dealer replaced the expansion tank 10 months ago, which means this hose should also have been replaced, correct?

Because the M550i has two coolant reservoirs, I am confused about which one constitutes the 'expansion tank'. However, it seems only one tank pops a warning when low, and that's the one in the back. I had the same low coolant warning when the expansion tank was leaking 10 months ago, so logic says that that's the expansion tank that was replaced. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes, top right is expansion tank. I just found out the same way you did. Still under warranty, thankfully.

Yes, it doesn't make sense to overlap, just wasting the Route 66. I bought mine two weeks before my BMW CPO was up just to be safe. But if you are asking, do you need to be covered when buying Route 66, no.
