Thanks - It left well and the load up on the back wheels made people take notice. I cut a real light because I was racing a Caddy lol.
That said - lowering my tire pressure and less fuel and I hazard a guess I could get into the 1.7's and pop off a 12.0. |

Is your car broken in - how many miles does it have? I would wager that the transmission isn't broken in yet and the car will run a faster time when it is.

I would think that the m550 would beat the S6 given that the S6 has 6 less horsepower, weighs 70 lbs more, and Audi rates its 0-60 as 4.4 to the 5's 3.9. Maybe Audi just severely underrates their power/acceleration figures? This would seem like a clear win for the m550 but it isnt

Thanks for the reply. I just know there is more potential somewhere, just on a better day. Lower temps, more miles on the engine, etc etc. I know my best run is 12.6 at 111 with my 335GT tuned. and it weighs 4000lbs, plus I'm 218. I have about 400 to the crank. So I'm sure the new 550 can hit 12 flat stock with better variables. |

It's all math folks. Power, weight, drag and traction. Whatever the real numbers actually are. Can't fool physics im afraid. And taking into account better DA, less fuel, and less tire psi - this car will run a 12.0. For a 4400 lb luxury car. That is a C7 Corvette. It's not a win though eh? |

The S6 for example - runs a low 12 at 115 MPH. These cars are very close to identical. People see a quicker ET and ignore the MPH trap speed. And the track conditions, and the DA and other factors... Fantastic DA, less weight from due to less fuel for example, and better traction from less psi in the tires and you are at the same ET. You need that actual 1/4 mile experience though to understand that. |

So, yes it's quicker, the absolute least I'd expect, but still feels like it should be further ahead.

I think I will take the time to point out your ET and trap to show you that math is always involved in racing. 12.6 at 111 is literally about perfect when you see I went 12.3 at 115. 115 MPH however is good for about 11.9-12.0 in the most optimum of conditions. What I love about trap speeds is - I don't even need to run an ET if I don't want to (using a car inrace for example and don't want to risk breaking) - because once I know the trap speed - unless I REALLY want that slip (which in the past I will admit I have) - I don't need to because I know what the car is capable of. It's really handy. |

Then that means that the M550's direct competitor does the quarter at pretty much the same time. I don't get your point?

And I agree with others. Trap speed says a lot. Sometimes more than the ET's.

The slight delay in upshifts is intentional. All BMW automatic transmissions since 2006 behave in this manner to aid longevity. Fuel and spark are interrupted to cut <500 RPMs to prevent slamming into the next gear. The DCT in the F10 M5 does not do this.

If you're saying there is 12 dead in there then you can't be happy with that time either. So in one thread 0.4 seconds has gone from a massive difference to now just the difference between a hot day or a cold day in my car, or how much quicker you think you can go if you just practice harder...

Don't take yourself so seriously! But you still haven't explained how 0.4 seconds is a massive difference when it suits you but somehow going to be the difference between the same car depending on the weather! And your trap speed is even worse given a 0-60mph time of less than 4 seconds.
