Everyone always feels like they are going to keep their new shiny toy longer than they originally planned. Similar to leasing, I have leased a few BMW's and after driving it off the lot for a few months, I proclaim, I am going to buy this at the end of the lease. Then the novelty wears off, newer models are available, etc.

I would not buy the extended maintenance just yet. Let the novelty wear off a bit. You have plenty of time to buy it. That said, I use a very good indy for my maintenance that I trust more than the dealer and it saves me a few bucks. I would guess the savings negate the lure of buying BMW's maintenance warranty.

The $200 pre-buy oil service is worth it, the M550 is a $200 oil change, some dealers run specials for less (I got $99 last time I was in), they will only do it every 10K mi. So if you should do your changes ever 5K and alternate. I do 5K’s myself.

In hindsight, I should have bought the tire/wheels warranty. It’s not cheap but I’ve never had tire/wheel issues in 30 years but this car cracks/bends rims and easily gets flats. I’ve had 3 on the M550 and this forum is loaded with M550 drivers with many many flats and rim breaks. A mild rim bend on a seemingly harmless pothole is $200 to fix, cracked rim is $900. Tires are over $300. So I would get that if I had to do it again.

I leased my card, love it so much I’m going to keep forever. the BMW extended warranties are so expensive, they don’t seem a good value to me so I havn’t got one. might consider an extended but in my experience 3rd party warranties tend to have really low per-part caps, so if the transmission goes they only cover up to $2500, meanwhile it will be $10K so you are going to be out $7500. I havn’t looked at any for the M550, that was just my older experiences with them.

Gald you love the car, I’m over 3 years with it now and have a total shit eating grin every single time I get in it. It drives, feels, looks like it did on day 1.

I use ceratec as well with the oil, seems to help and has no downsides. And every 10K I put in a can of royal purple cleaner…. It certainly can’t hurt even if some dispute it’s degree of benefit. In my case I personally tested both on my car and other small engines and absolutly noticed with ceratec it runs smoother, and after RP gas additive it reduced carbon and made my small engines run smoother aferwards. The M550’s v8 has a noticably smoother and quieter idle immediatly after adding.
I’m about to buy my ‘22 off lease. Residual is $46,100. I have 36k on it. Extremely right side up. I am doing this because this being my 4th iteration that I would gladly exchange for a new one is not an option. As we all know. This is the best daily driver in my opinion.

The only warranty I purchase at inception is tire/rim. My ‘19 & 22 I have purchased Allstate from dealer. My car NEVER leaves the dealer before the RFTs are taken off and Michelins are put on. On my 19 I had 7 tires go. No curb hits and one pothole. A lot of highway/ high speed road debris.
The ‘22 had one tire go and Allstate would not replace because it wasn't OEM. What a waste of $$$$. I won’t buy rim/tire again.

I will purchase the 100k extended warranty My BMW dealer service manager who has worked on 15+ of my bimmers over 20 years is suggesting Allstate over BMW warranty in general. Also on our cars a “ weevo” sp? Typically goes at 60 k and is a $1500 repair NOT. Covered by BMW but by Allstate. There are more examples.

I stress on keeping the V8 for more than lease term but no choice. I test drove a ‘24 X5M60 for a weekend but not even close.

I have a ‘19 911 TurboS that is my 10 year beast keeper. 5k on it. My’10 of the same sold above MSRP when I upgraded.

I share because an M5 is not what I would drive daily.

Wheel & Tire incl dings, scratches thrown in was $1900 on my ‘22. No way it’s 4k.

Been shopping for another X7 and a dealer sent me a deal sheet the other day with $3,500 for tire and wheel. I just laughed.

I literally bought a 23 M550 with 11k miles on it last week. I definitely went with the 100k warranty because I know how much I will want to drive this car and I guarantee I will hit 100k before my loan is up lol
