I decided to post pics of this option now that I've received my car. A lot of people have requested this. This is JUST a $150 option in the US and includes a space saver spare tyre. a jack and the enclosure to hold it all. The jack alone is $125 from parts. This comes out completely if you need the space. My car came with run flat all season tyres but this gives me the option to replace them with non run flats in the future. Good luck and you will enjoy the car.

I have this and like it as well. Nice and compact, and removable.
My only complaint is that the factory all weather trunk liner does not fit if you have this option (it is too long and prevents trunk from closing). I suppose one could put the liner _under_ the spare tire kit, where it should fit, to catch any spills. But that defeats a good part of the purpose for me. I ended up trimming ~1/2 " from the liner and it will fit on top on the spare kit. |

I actually find the two trays useful for storage as you can see from my pics. All those little things don't move around and it's removable. Can't imagine how much BMW charges for it from dealer. Like I said the jack alone is $125 and run flat tires are expensive especially if you have a summer and winter set.

Sorry. That is a emergency snow shovel and not part of the tire option. The shovel handle is in the right storage bin.

Noted that OP is well equipped for any situation - even having Cottenelle Wipes for those times.

I knew someone would comment on those wipes and yes I like to have a little of something for every emergency. The shovel is very nice, it came as a 2 pack from Costco.

For $150 bucks, this is a no brainer. Thanks for posting pics.

Your welcome. That is what I thought. Why not. Someone posted that it was around $800 to do afterwards.

Wow, that's almost as much stuff as my wife keeps in her car. Only difference is that she doesn't have it stored nice and neat in the trunk. She just throws it all over the front and back seats.
Actually, it's not funny.

I'm so upset that mine wasn't! None of the cars at the BMW Houston dealerships have spares in them unless they were specifically ordered that way for a customer. Who wouldn't want a $150 spare? It's worth it just for the storage organizer alone!

Well if you live in nyc, no where to put it and dealer charge something like 700 to store tires (BMW Manhattan, though that's for 4 and I'm sure if you look a bit you can find cheaper...)

I suspect people buying from BMW Houston have slightly more storage space.

2017 530i XDrive Spare Tire Question
Hi! I have 2017 530i XDrive and I would like to switch over to using nonRFT tire for my car. I am thinking of having the following spare tire in my trunk for safety
https://parts.bmwofstratham.com/p/BM...112420121.html Before I order the wheel/tire, i just wanted to confirm with the owners of 2017 530i XDrive on this forum, if this wheel/tire would work with my vehicle. My local dealers says it does not show as a standard accessory for my VIN. However, the website above indicates that this wheel/tire would work. Can someone confirm? Especially if you also use this wheel/tire as spare for your 2017 530i XDrive. |

It will probably fit, but I'd confirm with the parts guy (before you order) that if it doesn't, that they'll take it back.
I've got a spare tire kit for my E92 (long since gone) that I need to see if it will fit the G30. It wouldn't clear the brakes on my F01. Thanks for the reminder.

Spare
I ordered my 540 with the spare too but not my X5. Just got an ordered spare for it from Modern Spare out of Ut USA. The rim is aluminum and lighter than the steel versions. Came in about 10 days with a jack and bag. Fit perfectly in the spot under the trunk. Even used the jack and tire tool that came with it to remove a wheel to test fit. All works great. Pretty sure MS could sell a fit for the G30 as well. I'm happy $450 later.

Hi,
I like your setup w/ the spare. Can you say what size your spare and emergency rim are ? Are your run flats on 18” or 19” rims? I bought an 18” emergency rim, and was told by my BMW dealer service guy that I can’t use the 18” rim, since I have 19” rims on my 540 xDrive, and if I used the emergency rim, it could cause damage to the transfer case of the xDrive, and BMW WOULD VOID ANY WARRANTY....I’m told the transfer case is a $9,000 item if it needed replacement... What do folks think? Should I just forget equipping the car with the 18” emergency rim, and get a full size 19” rim to use as the spare ? |
