Well it curbed my wheels on F10. So I never trust it again. Surely it would not be my option on G30

I surely park better than mine in London city centre. It does not park near enough the pavement for the car to fit in the narrow parking spaces in London or it over does it and curb the wheel. Failure to park properly would attract £80.00 fine. I rarely use it

Cool feature! Even though I don't parallel park most of the time, I can see my lady utilizing this feature. Thanks for sharing this!

Just be mindful of the sidewalk curb, we have had so many instances where the 7 and the i3s would curb wheels while going forward

I think if someone can't parallel patk a car, they shouldn't be driving altogether.

If folks can't handle the car and know where the four corners are at 2mph, how can they be trusted at 60mph.
Well I can't tell you how many clueless drivers I see driving luxury cars of all sorts.

No they shouldn't be driving, but they still do
+1 there are loads more important reasons I see daily on the M6 as to why people shouldn't be driving. Sadly they are still doing so

Exactly, take the bus if you can't park.

That makes me feel better about kerbing my mrs' car the other day, but that was trying to park forwards which I don't ever do ... and now I know why

Your penis will not disappear by not using it. Driving is fun, so is taking advantage of the technology. Drivers with real skills often not the ones that constantly worry about being looked down or laugh at others.

Garage List
I would like to see this system parking the car in a garage. My wife is concerned about navigating our garage door in a wider car than her Mercedes C300. It's doable because I used to drive an f10 M5 in the same garage, but our garage doors are somewhat narrow so the clearance isn't massive (hence my wife's discomfort with parking a wider car.

If yo can just pull up to the garage door on the driveway and let the car do the rest that would be awesome.

Not in Malaysia although we pay amongst the highest prices for luxury cars due to tax and excessive margins.

BMW should think of its drivers
I drove the 1500 then the 2500 then the 520 and when I was 13 and on my wall there was a picture saying freund am Fahren

And a speeding 7 series -- the pleasure drivers extracts out of driving is by maneuvering a powerful car like the 5 and 6, and M and then taming them

When that is gone so does the pleasure of driving amigos

Many BMW drivers specially
While I appreciate your point and get what you're saying, BMW has to offer this stuff. They're a premium brand and if Mercedes, Audi and hell, even Lexus offer it, so does BMW. Freund am Fahren isn't the reason 90% of BMW owners get BMWs anymore. Plus, saying no to new tech just because it isn't "classic" BMW is a bit backward, simply because BMW is typically near the front of automotive technology. A car parking itself definitely seems to be automotive tech.

It's a cool piece of kit, do I need it? No. Do a vast majority of premium, luxury car buyers need it? Absolutely. If this can teach one BMW owner how to park between the lines instead of in two spots, I'm all for it. (It can perpendicular park in case you were wondering).

Guys,

Anyone nows the difference between :

- S5DMA Parking Assistance System
- S5DNA Parking Assistance System Plus

I have the first on my G30 and cannot understand what's the difference... The car seems to do the same things as seen on the video except it doesn't have the top view because it only has the rear camera option. Parallel and Perpendicular Parking with steering, shifting, and braking...

You need parking assistance plus for remote parking if I'm not mistaken. Not exactly sure though.

I think remote parking is yet another separate option...

Probably the difference between the two ("plus" and non plus) parking assistance system if the front camera.

Remote parking is a completely separate option.

I believe 5DM Parking Assistant (not-plus) is standard and is just the proximity sensors and backup camera.

5DN (Parking Assistance Plus) adds the front/side cameras for 3D surround view and I believe the self-park ability (where you pull next to a parking spot, press the button, and the car will steer/drive/brake on its own to get into the spot). The 3D surround view IMO is a must-have. The self-parking....well, that depends on how much you trust the vehicle.

You need 5DN in order to get remote parking. But you can have 5DN without remote parking if you wish.
