Is it just me or the fact that the G30 on big rims looks like a 3 series is NOT a good thing? What the heck...

I like those new Alpina rims though!

Finally, Alpina offers BMW gear shift paddles as a non cost option for their cars!

Hopefully they give up their buttons when they realize everyone orders the paddles instead...

Wonder why they're shoeing the touring with narrower tyres on the rear than the saloon?

I noticed that. The F10 M5 has 295's on a 10" rim, they can fit it fine on the Saloon G30 but need to change to 285's on the Touring - seems a bit weird.

The E61 M5 also had 275's in the rear and the Saloon had 285's in the rear.

Yeah weird eh! Might be something to do with the increased weight at the rear and the max additional loading weight permitted (130kg) being higher in the touring... tyre pressures maybe? I'm clutching at straws...surely some technical guy will chime in here...:

Extra load in 285/30/20 is rated at 99 and 295/30/20 is 101 which translates to well more than what you'd ever need, 1709lbs and 1819lbs or 775kg and 825kg. You'd be well above maximum axle load before getting close to either tyre, but still you'd assume the wagon would have the higher loading of tyre.

Ditto on the price.
I could purchase a truck for that and make money from it.

Alpina always nails it. And those wheels will just never get old.

I have a RHD e61 M5 and it's because of the suspension design. Can't fit 295s. We tried and you have the choice of hard up against the shit shields or with a spacer and against the rear quarters...

ETRTO requirements. Touring has Self Leveling Rear Axle with different kinematics.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Alpina do away with the air suspension in the g31 b5?

How does kinematics have anything to do with the load area dictating a different approach to the suspension configuration? Just wondering.

The G31 B5 retains Rear Axle Self Leveling Air Struts.

The kinematics apply under UNECE Resolution No.30 which apply ETRTO Standards. The Vehicle Tire/Wheel Combination Load rating is allowed maximum 2' total camber. The speed rating (and appropriate in-service pressure) is calculated to maintain this. Since the self leveling axle can actively compensate to evenly distribute the load, the saloon's wider tire (which actually in this case would be a taller sidewall), with a slightly higher load rating is not necessary.

I can't share a current ETRTO Standards Manual as they're digitally signed and not distributable, but this Continental Book explains it a bit, beginning on P.104.

Is it normal for the performance stats (HP/Torque) to be based off of 98 octane? Round here, the max we get is like 93.
