Special Silver Color Available?

Glacial Silver look like grey to me. I know BMW has the "individual" program where custom colors can be approved for order, but is there some intermediate level where other "silvers" can be ordered?

In saloon they told me that individual colors would be up for order soon. They offered me Almandine brown individual that I may order now but when I ordered it they said its not possible, it will be in Oct. And some of the colors like Azurite black should be up in Nov

Searching other posts and found one describing "cheap" individual color choices (ie from a limited list). Individual color "Pure Metal Silver" looks like it might be a good one. Anyone have an idea of the USA price for this option--can't find it on the web and I don't want to pulse a dealer until I'm ready to buy--waiting for Dec for a 6-mos Lease Pull-Forward.

Also, I have a vague memory of new colors being added in July. Anyone know of this?

The only I could find is this
https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/globa...summer-of-2017
look for pdf at bottom of page , it doesn't list the colours though , however the Uk brochure I have does list individual colours which are available from July onwards,.

Pure Metal Silver is an amazing color. Featuring the application of three different shades of silver with hand detailing. It's supposed to look like liquid silver. HOWEVER I do believe the price to be in excess of $9,000.

Yes, I've found info that says "BMW's most expensive color" and a cost a couple of years ago of $10K. If I were doing one of the $80K plus cars, I could see it; but not a bread and butter $60K. I ordered "Super Silver" on my 09 Nissan GTR for $3K, but didn't get a nickel of that back when I sold it.

I would rather spend such a massive amount of money on extras then a paint job no matter how special it is .

I should also mention that there's a new Individual color on the palette for the G30 called Rhodonite Silver. I have never seen one in person but it should be for the standard $1,800 or so premium. You could also look at Moonstone...but I may be biased....

Thanks. I'm willing to spring $1800, or so, for a "standard" individual color as it's only a $1K premium over the regular metallics. A French poster has said that there will be 11 new individual colors listed for the 5 series starting with 2018 production in June 2017. The unfortunate thing is that there is a big difference between the on-line color chips and a whole car, and that it's so difficult to find even a 6" x 6" metal-painted color sample. Every Porsche dealer has these, but I have yet to find a BMW dealer with them. I e-mailed BMWNA asking if they had samples at the NJ Hq. and their reply was "see your dealer". We have 5 BMW dealers in Houston and I can't find them!

I would think someone would be able to correspond with BMW and get a sample for you... Even when we ordered Audi Exclusive they were able to provide us a sample chip. I'm up in San Antonio and they're about to start construction on a new dealer which I'm told will have the first "BMW Individual" specific showroom section... Hopefully they'll have some samples like Porsche.

Worth a trip from Houston. San Antonio is always a pleasure to visit, anyway. What's the name of the new dealership and what's the expected opening date, please?

The current dealer BMW of San Antonio will be moving out there. From what I've heard it will be the 3rd largest dealer in the world... They were saying that it would be open before the end of 2017 but it seems a lot ways off that. I do know a guy there that does a lot with Individual orders and paint-to-sample stuff. I'll ask to see how he usually handles those requests for samples etc.

If you're wanting a "brighter" silver, there isn't one unless you commission Individual Manufaktur Paint to sample ($5k+). Pure Metal Silver is actually based on Glacier and current price is $10,480.

Rhodonite Silver is the sole $1800 (plus metallic charge) on offer for the US.

My local dealer, Advantage BMW has agreed to order paint samples for the ones most interesting to me. My sales advisor is the one who orders the stock autos and I suggested he order an M550i with Pure Metal Silver. He has two other " $5K individual" color cars on the floor: fashion grey, which looks like a classic Porsche 356 color and metropolitan grey, which is more grey than brown.
