Dinan springs installed
Ended up biting the bullet and got the Dinan springs installed on the M550i. I am absolutely thrilled with how it turned out. I imagine wheel spacers are next up.

Excellent.
How's the ride now with the 15% stiffer? Do you have the adaptive M suspension with active roll and 4 wheel steering? If so, no warnings or anything? |

I only have the adaptive M suspension without the active roll and rear steering. Not sure what they would be like on that setup. |

Thanks! Spacers are on the way and I can't wait to get them installed. That might be it for a while as I'm really loving the way it looks.

Very nice G30.
What size spacers did you go with?

Dinan had an online sale right before Christmas, so I ordered directly from them.

Real quick photo I just took because the car is dirty from the winter and I haven't had a chance to really clean it recently and do an updated shoot. This is with 15mm on the front and 20mm on the rear. I'll PM you where I got the stuff from. |

Update?
Can we hear an update about the DINAN springs? I just ordered the new axle back exhaust and was considering the spring and ride handling package but was concerned it would lower the car a little too much. How is the feel? Can you still tell a difference in the chassis between comfort, sport, sport+ and adaptive? How is it getting in and out of the car being almost an inch lower? Are you riding into more curbs? Bottoming our or hitting the wheel well with big pot holes? (In New England some of our potholes are so deep they can easily bend a rim). Does the wheel gap look at all odd being less on the top and a little more on the sides? Overall experience and would you do it again 2 months later? Thanks.

I can still tell a difference between the different modes when I choose them. For some reason, the adaptive mode doesn't seem to adapt quite as quick as I would like it to. In this mode, I feel that it's hunting too much to try and smooth out the ride. I've resorted to comfort on the highway and sport+ on my spirited part of my daily drive. I haven't had any problems getting in and out of the car with it being lower. Additionally, I put on my parking sensors when I park near a curb to make sure that I don't catch the front on anything. I don't recall bottoming out on any potholes either, but we don't have the pothole problem that the NE does either. That may very well change after all this flooding we've gotten the past week, so I'll have to be extra vigilant to avoid any new ones. With the spacers, I don't think the wheel gap looks odd, but I could be biased. I think it looks pretty good and am happy with the look. I do wish the rear wheels were a little wider. I had 10" on my F10 535i in the rears and loved the look from the rear. Wish the 668M had the same look. |

Any update on your springs? How many miles have you had them on for? Any wear / aging in your adaptive dampers b/c of the springs?
Do you feel the handling improved significantly?

I wish I had a better response for this question, but I've moved on from that car when I sold it last summer before a one-year deployment. I ended up having them on the car for 3.5 years and never noticed any problems. As far as the handling goes, I really don't remember much, especially because it's been over a year since I've driven it and I recently got a '22 M5C. The latter has jaded any memories I may have from the M550.
