Can you please tell us what happened to the turn signal- and windscreen wiper handle on the new 5-series? From E6x to G1x (all modern BMW) they have worked like an "electric stick" as they return to 0-position when they are in use, and the rain sensor is turned on/off by a button - now they feels like old, mechanical handles with distinct plastic sound since they stays in the position you use them.

Changed because BMW kept getting very bad initial quality feedback because new customers could not understand the electric system.

The new system also allows the auto wipers to always be on, unlike teh electrical one that reset it each time.

Is it really a world debut when It doesn't actually go to part of the world?

that's as self serving as the NBA or NFL pronouncing a WORLD champion... when they have leagues on a single continent.
What you mean like the World Series your rounders (sorry baseball) game has which is only played in the US but you call it the World Series for a really odd reason.

100 percent correct and actually the first one I should have listed.

"World Series " is a helluva lot more arrogant along with The NBA calling the winners " world champions" than the NFL and " The Super Bowl"

You're kidding? If BMW gets bad feedback because new customers do not realize they, then they get to create better manuals. They are super easy to use, and they have been one of my favorite things with BMW.

Yes, the only advantage of the new handles is that the rain sensor is always activated. The disadvantage is that you have to drag the handle out of the rain sensor, into 0 and a notch down if you just want a second sweep of the route and then return.

Tragically BMW ...

Do you have link to the discussion?

I have to say I still hate the electronic indicators and despite having 4 BMWs with them - going back 10 years - I still much prefer the mechanical ones. Cancelling is far more straightforward whereas with the electronic ones you often start signalling in the opposite direction.

Auto wipers being left on permanently not great in icy conditions though and could cause damage if the wipers are frozen to the windscreen.

New 5 touring looks great though.

Loves that positive feel of the older Bmw switchgear

ugh BMW, when will you learn how to paint a car. There is soo much orange peel it is visible in a photo taken from 5 ft (look by the m badge). Are they applying paint with foam rollers?

Seriously invest some money in your paint processing. Don't tell me it is the waterborne base. My Lexus, Jaguar, Mercedes and even my Tacoma all have much smoother paint then my BMW.

And ENOUGH WITH THE F**IN M BADGES ALREADY! You are ruining a nice looking car with logos everywhere.

It's an M Sport. All M Sport Packets have the M logo on the front wing in Europe.

Got word from my dealer that it will only be 4dr sedan.
Why?

This essentially removed bmw from the list of possible cars for my forced car change this summer. Now only an overpriced Volvo V90 T8 remains.

So it's official then, no G31 530e? Could the market for a G31 530e be too small since there's no G31 in the North America?

I guess the next plug in hybrid will be the new G01 X3.

I guess so.
Also, the list published here: http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1358847
Only mentions 530e as G30.
G31 will apparently get 518d, 520i, 525d though. Unclear when...
