"Emergency call system malfunction" on G30+G07 now gone
Very interesting thing happened recently, I first saw the "Emergency call system malfunction" message on my 2019 G30 530e and it stayed there for a couple of days, wouldn't go away and I couldn't change the display settings of the speedo to show mileage etc., the car really wanted me to go to the dealer immediately.
Then I saw the same message pop up on my 2023 G07 X7 which is really concerning as it is less than an year old. But then strange thing is that the message has now disappeared on both cars simultaneously. Could this have been caused by cellular network outage, for on nextdoor someone posted issues with AT&T cellular network not working, which cannot be just a coincidence. Does BMW use AT&T network in the US? |

the 2019 is out of the initial 4yr warranty but as it is an emergency system will BMW fix it under an extended warranty on safety systems?

Had the same problem on my G30 520D Xdrive. The notice was on and off for a couple of months then it came on and has stayed on for the last 2 weeks. After a bit of research I took the battery out (simple 5 minute job) I left it out overnight warming on a radiator and popped it back in this morning and everything seems to be back to normal now. Let’s see how long it lasts.

It’s best to spend the $50-60 on a new battery than to keep popping your headliner on and off, you’d be surprised how easily it can fold and leave a permanent crease. New battery should last at least 3-4 more years.
Strange how its mainly happening to 2019 G30’s. My 2017 is still on original battery and I’ve only replaced for 2019 owners 🤔 |

Yes mine is a 2017 model but it has a 450mAh / 3.6Wh battery whereas the newer models have a 330mAh / 2.64Wh battery so I think the older ones last longer but they are no longer available to buy and have to be replaced by the newer ones so need to change them every 4 years instead of 6 🙁
