But I wouldn't want to wake up (piss off) my (very pregnant) wife by opening the garage and moving cars out. So, I'll just be careful and do it with the cars in their spots. Well, I guess I wasn't paying attention to how close I was getting to my hood and finally the 5 iron was long enough to bump the hood as I removed it from the vice. DOH!!!

It's about three teeny tiny scratches. You have to be on top of them, looking for them, to see them. No one besides me will notice. The detailer can buff them out, no problem. That's all good news. Lesson learned. I didn't jump off the roof or lose my sh*t. But boys (and maybe girls?), I feel like a real grade A dumb ass!

I won't lie to you guys… I wish it had been the wife's silver SUV instead of the dark graphite 540

Edit to add… maybe the ceramic took the brunt of it?? One can only hope…
Eh, we've all done stuff like that. My rule is no dents no foul. Polish it out and re-coat the area.

As for "we've all done stuff like that", here's my biggest "doh!"

I'm doing work on my E53 X5 4.4 back in the day. Blowing out the radiator from inside the engine compartment, feeling great that I'm not wedging stuff further in as I see the debris come out. Then I hear a "click" as the air nozzle touches the oil cooler. "Oops, be careful dummy" I say to myself. After I'm done I start the X5 up and see a shower of oil flying everywhere. That oil cooler was a $1k part!
I appreciate you guys making me feel better! Lessons learned. I've finally figured out that it does no good to beat myself up too bad. Hopefully learn the lesson, then move on.

I just tell myself that I am not keeping the car forever lol. I'm pretty OCD about my bathtub. The car on the other hand is driven outside, its just not something that can stay clean forever like a pair of shoes/sneakers.

One of my favorite parts of the car are the rear C pillars, something about them Then the late even sun dancing off the tanzanite after a special, weekday edition of a car wash.

What's that brown leather section in the rear pic next to the c pillar? Looks much lighter than your front seat color? Unless its just the lighting, but still quite drastic.

Both mocha, the sun was directly hitting the back seat and is the true representative color.

I'm glad I'm not the only one! I use Adams Waterless Wash (different than rinseless wash) on all those painted surfaces inside the doors.

Are you able to do a drivability/performance comparison between the 550 vs the Bentley yet or have you not had enough seat time with the 550?

Got about 600 miles on this weekend, haven't gone flat out in Sport+ yet, but on paper the m550 is nearly a second quicker to 60. Power output is in the same ballpark, but the Bentley (V8, not W12) is over 1500 lbs heavier, and you can definitely feel that.

Both are making a metric buttload of torque and the way they get down the road does feel similar, but even in its sportiest settings the Bentley is softer and really doing its best to convey a sense luxury and refinement. The BMW feels more taught, accurate and ready to go at the slightest throttle input, characteristically German in every way.

These modern Bentleys do have Audi guts, though, so it kind of comes down to how they tune the steering and suspension. I'd describe the difference being sort of like how a BMW platform turns into a Rolls Royce or perhaps an Alpina. The character of the power unit is there, just comes down to how the peripherals are implemented.

First impressions with the bmw are exceedingly positive though, even better than I expected. I feel like the balance of the setup is spot on, exactly what I want to drive every day! Doesn't feel laggy or anemic in comfort mode, perfectly satisfying to drive without having to dial it up, which I really like.

Interesting, thanks for taking the time. How's the fit and finish inside comparatively? I imagine it's a no contest with Bentley winning hands down. I've always appreciated the work that Bentley and rolls put inside but haven't had a measuring stick to really compare. Also I will need Bentley interior pictures to be able to verify your response.

Since we're showing some toys....

2015 Viper 8.4L V10, 660 hp 615 lb/ft torque, 3300 lbs. I thought I'd show the tires. Rears 14 in wide, Fronts 10 in wide

1993 Mustang Lx 5.0. I plopped a 427 in there. 7500 rpm shift point, 630 hp, 600 lb/ft torque, 3200 lbs.

Ah gad just messed my pants on the viper. You got sentimental value with that mustang or are you just mental and need more hp? Never been a fan.

The Mustang, shows my age. I bought it new. 56k miles on the chassis now. These things were bad ass in the 80's/90's. Light weight, indestructible and you can build the crap out of them. They had the most aftermarket parts available and they were cheap to build. Now you load in a tune..maybe and exhaust...lame to be honest. Back then you were doing heads/cam/rockers/exhaust/fuel system and even a supercharger or a turbo. You had to work for the power....you had to earn it. It was satisfying.

Very few people had the opportunity to do what I did back in the day. I did every combo possible in that thing because I would get bored. Naturally aspirated, multiple style superchargers, turbo, large displacement....etc. 5 engines/6 transmissions (manual). My best combo was in 2003....a 331ci with a T76 Turbonetics turbo. That thing made some steam for the time. 700 hp and 725 ft/lbs of torque. No nanny's either. I was dipping into the 9's all day long in the 1/4.

It was all driver trying to put the power down....white knuckling it. You had to buy an aftermarket engine management system and program all parameters yourself or pay someone some bucks to do it. I can say I clearly understand every aspect of fuel injection. It was a lot of fun. I would get about 250 miles per set drag radials. 100 miles an hour looking in the rearview laying 2 thick black lines as far as the eye can see. Running ricer motorcycles every night on the highway. The good ol days.

And the funny shit was, trying to fund all this was my inspiration to climb the corporate ladder. I needed the money to fund my addiction. I was the only executive that I knew that actually got my hands dirty. I would sit in my office brainstorming my next build, how I was going to build the end-to-end system....it would get me through the day while I was surrounded by corporate pant loads with no sense of humor or personality. They could remember every sports score though...and brag about their golfing averages. Jimmy cracked corn...and I don't care.

Here was my 700hp turbo set up...sanitary looking. Take note of the garden hose sized fuel line (blue).
