Nice. I will try to make it but my son has a soccer game during that time. I need to get me a Dinan exhaust. I actually know someone selling the axle back.

Get some good rest tonight Joe. We're counting on some top notch Dinan surround sound and 3D video footage. The pressure is on!

At the very least, I'll get a video of a cold start up first thing.

I want to take some drive by's, but I need a second person for that, which would be my GF. I see the eye rolls now.

We do have to go to a funeral this morning which is causing me to miss a season opening Cars and Coffee. The thought has crossed my mind of doing them in the cemetery. A few fly by's the casket😂😂😂. I'll post what take in this thread.

EDIT- cold start stock vs Dinan. Couldn't rev the Dinan setup too much as it was 4:15AM and my neighbors would have been pissed.

"Fly by's the casket" - you're a sick pup! Hilarious though…leaving an everlasting impression with the family.

The exhaust sounds very nice….not obnoxious. Cant wait to see other vids….

Got back yesterday from 2 weeks in the UK. While I was gone I had my son drop off the car to get a tire replaced (another pothole sidewall damage, dammit). My daughter had texted me a pic of a big-ass scrape of bright red paint on my left front bumper; no idea when or where it happened, but nobody has driven it but me, and it was parked at the airport the previous week, so I figured someone nailed it in the parking garage and I hadn't noticed it. While it was in for the tire I had them send an estimate to fix the bumper. Apparently the dealer farms out their body work. Their place sent me a quote for about $1480 to R&I, repaint, etc. I wanted to look at it first, so I hadn't responded.

Went out to take a look at it this morning. Turns out it was just a scuff of red paint from God only knows what, probably not even automotive paint. A little compound on a clay bar took it off, then a minute with final polish on a DA and the bumper was fine. No trace of a scratch or scrape. Under 10 minutes total to get it cleaned up.

I emailed the body shop and told them I'd be charitable and assume they did the estimate based on a picture someone sent them.

Oh, and the dealer replaced my right front caliper and pads under warranty, too -- seems the caliper was stuck and one pad was almost gone. Glad they caught that.

I took my first extended highway ride for quick weekend getaway. I am really getting more impressed with each passing day. The car is so quiet on the highway and extremely comfortable. When you want to bust a move it does that really well. I do miss my dvd player and juke box from my previous car.

My initial reaction to this is

1)
No way I let my kids drive my car when I'm in the UK. Now I'll let them drive it, but when I'm out of the country, that's not a great formula. I remember when I was a kid and my parents were away, man did I beat the shit out of their cars.

2)
No f'ing way I ever leave my G30 at airport long term parking. That's what the E39, VW, or Infiniti are for.

Glad everything worked out for you. I'd be beside myself across the pond. I'd almost wish they didn't tell me until I got home.

Isn't the air filter a bugger? Who decide it was a good idea to put a structural crash bar above the airbox? I did mine last week and marked up the rear, corner of the airbox lid trying to get it out.

Yeah that brace is located just perfect to be a pain. Just like that rear tab in the in cabin is tucked just far enough back to be a complete headache. This is my second time swaping the filters so it went a bit more smoothly.

I think it took me longer to get that tab in than the entire job!

I get that, but he's 31... not exactly a teenager. I trust him with the car. And I know it's a BMW and all, but still... it's a car, not one of my grandkids (with whom I also trust him).

I hate trying to park the F150 in the airport garage, the Vespa can't carry me and the suitcases, and my airplane is too slow and can't make it across the Atlantic. I didn't buy this as a static display. It's going to get dinged, chipped, scratched. I try to avoid it, of course, but the car is there to serve my needs, not the other way around. That's one reason I don't buy new any more. Everything I buy already has that first rock chip.

And it's all repairable.

Understood, I am admittedly over the top. I literally flew out of Boston this morning and had to make my own space in central parking with the E39. It's either towed or been side swiped. I'm glad I have options. I don't buy new either, just CPO, but I try to find a CPO that was clearly owned by someone like me. There is literally not a mark on my car and the front, hood and fender were PPF'd. I'd probably be more relaxed if it had a few rock chips or blemishes. You make a good point.

I think it’s different schools of thought. One of my wife’s sayings is “all good, that’s why we have insurance.” I always tell her. “It’s not about having insurance, it’s the time it takes to get things fixed….” For me, it’s not the worry of scratch’s, ding’s or other cosmetic blemishes. It’s having to look at it… then fix it because it’s not perfect to my standards. Lol.

There is literally not a mark on my car and the front, hood and fender were PPF'd. I'd probably be more relaxed if it had a few rock chips or blemishes. You make a good point.
I think it's different schools of thought. One of my wife's sayings is "all good, that's why we have insurance." I always tell her. "It's not about having insurance, it's the time it takes to get things fixed…." For me, it's not the worry of scratch's, ding's or other cosmetic blemishes. It's having to look at it… then fix it because it's not perfect to my standards. Lol.
Hmmm…isn't that the same thing? If you worry about scratches, you may try to avoid them, then you won't have to look at them until fixed😂
