B58 Stuttering and stalling at initial acceleration

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the forum and looking for some much needed help. I have a 2018 BMW 540 xDrive with about 100,000km on it. I recently had issues with my PCV diaphragm that was replaced, but it led to another issue that i can't seem to diagnose. My car (after being off for any amount of time over a few minutes) stutters at first acceleration. It also sometimes stalls into neutral. When i begin initial acceleration, my rpm's drop to under 500 and then jumps to a normal level, or it stalls out and i have to restart. It's incredibly nerve racking. But all seems fine after i drive for about 30 seconds until i turn off the engine again and the bad process starts all over.

I thought i figured out the issue and replaced my spark plugs and VANOS solenoid, but that did not resolve the issue. I have run injector cleaner through and changed up my fuel (i was using Top Tier Costco, but now using others).

Has anyone run into this issue before, or can provide any thoughts?

I also forgot to mention that no error codes are coming up.

Could be a bad fuel tank vent valve.

A few other things to check:

Check if the new PCV diaphragm is seated properly
Check if oil filler cap is fully seated
Check if MAF sensor is bad/dirty
Check for misfire codes
Check if main ignition battery is still good

I have checked the PVC Diaphragm, cleaned the MAF, checked the oil cap...but it is still stuttering. There are no misfire codes either. The car starts fine, so i'm guessing it isn't the ignition battery?

Did you use an actual diagnoses tool to scan for fault codes?

Yes i did. Nothing came up. I may try again though. Doing some more research on the breather valve, and it sounds like it could be that and a fairly quick fix.

Sounds fuel related to me. Filter, lines, pump, etc. Weird you aren't getting codes. These cars throw a code if you fart too hard on the seat.
