Hello to everyone guys.

It seems like I have some problems with my 530e.

A few days ago after a 400-500km trip, I stopped by a Mcdonald’s to have something for eat, and after getting back in the car I turned the engine on and got a notification of “Drivetrain malfunction” and the text: “You can continue driving. No Roadside Assistance required. Reduced engine performance. Have the problem checked by your service center.”

After a few kilometers I stopped the car restart the engine and the notification went away, and then after a few kilometers it came back with an Check Engine Light.

I took my Autophix codes reader and here is what kind of errors I have got:

1. 218219 Starter unit, charging controller for auxiliary battery:
Aged auxiliary battery!

2. 123432 Electrical wastegate valve, adaptation: Limit position shut, implausible.

3. 123401 Electrical wastegate valve, adaptation: Cold start not learned.

4. 120408 Charging pressure control: Switch-off as consequence.

5. 123439 Electrical wastegate valve, adaptation: Bottom limit position.

Car has now 188.000 km on the board, acceleration is perfect, HV battery rage still got 30km.

What I noticed is, when you turn the engine on and the Drivetrain malfunction apper (it is only apper after a long trip), you just have to drive like 5km, restart the engine and the notification is going away and you get back the full power.

Can anyone tell me what is the problem? I think the problem is whit the Auxiliary battery. What is your thoughts guys?

The codes tell the story, it’s likely both the battery and your electrical wastegate actuator. Ran into the latter last month.

With the last one, I mean with Electrical Wastegate Valve, could it be that the wastegate doesn’t work because of the Auxiliary Battery or inversely it also can be that because of the wastegate the Auxiliary Battery fault is showing up?

And what it was in your case, did you replaced the wastegate?

Not sure about Romania, but the Wastegate issue is a known one to BMWNA and it was both recommended for dealerships to replace immediately when the car came in for service and has an extended warranty applied to it as well (15Y/150K miles).

LogicalApex ohh really, it would be great, but I don’t know, maybe there is a difference between NA and Europe. Anyway will firstly replace the battery by myself, and after will take a visit to the BMW.

For me it was just the wastegate, the actuator needed replacement.
