Alarm sounds and lights flash while driving

I was on my way home from work and I hear a loud siren noise. I think who’s making that noise. I have several cars around me. Then it stops and I’m like great that person turned off. Then it started again and I’m like nobody is around me now? I notice the 2’red lights flashing under the rear view mirror.

No notifications on the idrive. I call dealer service and they say it’s the factory alarm. Do not shut the car down bc it may not restart. Drive home (less than 3 miles). If stuck we will tow in.

I’m on the parkway now and my lights are flashing and siren going. Cars are getting out of my way.

Dealer said shut car off. Get out. Lock and unlock door off remote and restart. All fixed ?

What the heck happened ?

Next day no issue.

Anyone else have that happen ?

Is there anyway you could have activated the alarm? It could depend on which method you use to lock/unlock the vehicle. Do you use the remote fob? If yes, where do you keep it? If it's in your pocket, could you have unintentionally pressed the LOCK button which would have initiated the system.

Do you use one of the digital methods of locking/unlocking the car? Could you have activated the alarm using those methods?

When the status LED (clown nose) below the interior rearview mirror is illuminated, it means the DWA (anti-theft alarm siren system) has been activated.

I think you figured it out. I most likely triggered the alarm with the remote control.

Thanks

Thanks for the update. If it does occur again, and the remote is in your pocket...take it out and press any of the buttons. I think that should stop the alarm when the ALARM button has been pressed. The panic alarm can be initiated by a press & hold of the trunk release button (on 3 button remotes) or the alarm button (on 4 button remotes). So again, if the remote is in your pocket, it could unintentionally be pressed and activate the alarm.
