$225 unlimited oil change from dealer GOOD?

Guys, just wondering if any of you have tried the 3yrs Unlimited oil change deal from local dealers?

The M550i take around 10qts of oil, that's roughly 170 bucks with filter per oil change. Even if I was to buy Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5W-30, parts alone are still 80 bucks each time. It's too good of a deal!

I'm just too afraid that they are gonna use some recycled or cheap oil that is gonna screw my car up.

My local BMW dealer said you can get this deal from all BMW dealerships nowadays. The car has to be at least 60mo old or 60k+ miles. Definitely seems a bit too good.

Can you get this if you're out of Factory Warranty?
If so, I will buy this Monday. The 2020 and up M550's take 11.1 quarts, which is easily $200 for one oil change. The previous years use 9 quarts according to Google.

Still more than you need to spend, not counting your time to and from the dealership and waiting for the car to be worked on.

I tried taking it up with a dealer once, they said v8’s are exempt from the offer… if it sounds too good to be true…

I'm so jealous every time you show me your garage. Amazing. I hope you have a stripper pole somewhere in there.
My next final/forever home will have lift and hot/cold water washing available.
I promise.
LOL

I'm actually selling my house. I'm planning for an even bigger, better garage for the new place. Looking at about 1,800 square feet, lift bay, drive through bay for the tractor, one high-bay, workshop space, heat AND air-conditioning. I'll likely do a 4-post lift this time since it is a lot easier to get a car on/off than the two-post.

It’s legit, but coverage is not “unlimited”. They’ll change it based on the maintenance interval notification. So if there’s no oil change notification, you can’t change show up for an oil change.

Have it on my 530e and x5 for 2 years now. We do boat load of milage so both cars are getting 3 to 4 changes a year. Never an issue.p

It makes sense IMHO. Very cheap oil changes.

It is unlimited in that sense. If you are a high miles driver you’ll get as many changes as called for. Not 3 as some manufacturers are doing.

I got this offer straight from BMW on my app specifically saying "I qualify for it" because my M550i meets the age/mileage criteria. Every dealer in this area also offers it on their website. So it is legit. Whether or not they disallow it for an M550i, I will find out in a few months...

It is a good deal. The dealer I bring my X5 to offers it for $200 for three changes. I’ve got full maintenance plus for 5 years so I don’t need it.

The thinking behind it from a dealer perspective is to get you in and find more to do. I think paying customers are getting changes done by indies, I go that route on the M550, more because I want 5w-40 and the dealer will only do the thin stuff.

I’m bringing the M550 to the dealer this week for plugs, coolant flush, air and cabin filters. My wheel and tire warranty is running out next month and I’m also hoping to get two new rear tires under warranty. I also have a prior wheel rash repair that is flaking, so I’ll get that done too.

Price as quoted for the maintenance stuff is about $500 more than my indie, but the loaner from the dealer is a difference maker. My SA will probably give me 10-20% off if I ask her.

Tranny fluid service for next year.

V8’s. Are not exempt. My E93 M3 V8 has had 2 oil changes under the plan.

Also, I only drive my M3 4,000 miles per year, but the plan allows for 1 oil change per year regardless of mileage. I love my Indy, but he does charge $225 for 1 oil change.

I also bought the plan 2 years ago when it was only $199

A good value in my book

I've had no success in doing the "service" reset. My 2020 LCI does not have the odo reset button and the instructions I have seen for the LCI say to use the upper button on the left stalk instead. I do the 3X presses on the stop/start button, but the info window never acknowledges the subsequent presses on the stalk button. Am I missing some trick on the way I should cross my fingers?

Here is a video that might help:

I spoke to my local dealer about this oil change package a couple months ago. I'd say it's a good deal if you are only going to adhere to the recommended intervals. However, if you're like a lot of us that just can't accept that 10,000 miles between oil changes is a good idea, then this package becomes problematic. Reason being, the package is only good for one oil change at the recommended interval, ie, when the dash tells you it's time to get an oil change. They base the necessity of the oil change only on the interval warning message in iDrive. If you change your oil in between time and reset the counter, then the dealer will not do any oil changes because the car says it's not time for it yet.

Now, if you're ok with leaving the oil change message for like 6 months at a time, then it'd probably be worth while again. IMO, and this may just be me, it's not enough of a savings to be annoyed like that half of the year.

This is expected. BMW Ultimate Care oil changes are always based on CBS.

I stick to CBS so it will be a no brainer for me when my Ultimate Care + expires in a few years. Especially considering the PHEV is $180 per oil change under value service.

Same here. I think it's a good deal.

Nice! Once a year is all I need as well. I drive my M550 even less than you.
In the 2.5 years I've owned her, I've put on less than 5k miles. Currently has 15,400 miles on.
Calling my SA in the morning to buy this beeyotch.

Hey now--only BMW can change BMW oil.

$225. It's the only way to get the true BMW oil experience.
