Better get used to it because that's how every German car with a performance exhaust option sounds now.

I am right with you on this. Seems like BMW is trying to follow the sounds of the Merc 4cyl turbos and Audi RS models.
The only car I like it on is the RS3, and it is in a world of it's own with the inline 5cyl.

This exhaust sounds good, but I would prefer the sound without the farts and burbles. I think that will get old very quickly.

Maybe someone could explain to this driver how the thumb indentations are there to help you hold the wheel at 10 and 2, not 9 and 3.

M Performance Exhaust is approx $9k + $1300 for the Carbon M Performance Exhaust tips.

At least that is what it cost when I purchased it on my F10 M5 last time.

So can you turn off the farts? The safety car sounded great when he revved and took off. Even driving around, nice and smooth sound as the RPM rises and falls.

The first video makes me want to face palm.

Maybe I'm biased towards NA exhaust notes still, but that aside, BMW has some work to get as good a turbo exhaust note as Porsche or even Honda with the TypeR.

I'm sure it's much less drastic in "Normal/Comfort" mode. Sport+ has a way of really f'ing with throttle closure and overrun settings in the computer's end of things, just to offer a more "thrilling" experience. Why I prefer not to use Sport+ on my own car, I dislike the amplified pops/crackles, although much less "in your face" than that beast of an M5.

$15k, though? I'd take a strong pass on that account..

Thumb indentations are there for you to hold the wheel at 9 and 3, which is not only an acceptable place to hold the wheel, but also where many driving instructors tell their students to hold it. Both times I've been at the Porsche Experience Center I've been told to hold the wheel at 9 and 3.

The fart and crackle sound is becoming a bit over the top. To much in fact! Coming from the F90 - a sofiticated supercar, it just sounds childish and cheap! As far as making the shift from Dobbelclutch transmission to the ZF, the latter sounds very fast and makes great shifts.

Isn't that the same thing that was so compelling for many drivers when it comes to DCT?

"It (sound)s very fast and it makes great shifts"

Why would a paddle shifter complain?

The MPE sounds amazing. I like it better than the E63 exhaust which sounds more like a long fluttering fart.

An axleback doesn't create "noticeable" performance gains, whatever it's called or whatever it's price. It's a cosmetic upgrade. The MPE will simply be the loudest of the three, hence the biggest price amongst the three. ///Marketing.
