My rule for driving in Boston traffic is never make eye contact with a neighboring driver to let you in. If you see a gap, signal and take it before it closes. If you make eye contact, you’re done. The worst part of 128 is between I95 and Beverly at rush hour. To be fair though, most drivers in places like Gloucester and Rockport are quite courteous. But those are small places where you probably know the other driver.
