Spot on! They witnessed Mercedes create a separate expensive, bloblike EQE and EQS platform which has not gone too well for them. Perhaps BMW had the better idea, but they also fumbled on the design element in my opinion. I agree BMW compromised on the G60 and weighed too heavily towards EV, at least at this point in technology, market desire and affordability.

I totally agree with other guys comments on the G60. Looking at the 5 series models over the years I feel G60 looks aberrant in the lineup. I feel it lacks the soul of the series, like a plant that has grown from a different root. Additionally, I think having no control physical buttons and the higher seating position are major drawback points. |

Ouch!
I’m glad I didn’t want an EQS. Double glad I wasn’t one of the first who paid a lot over sticker to get one in 2022. It’s fun to see the EQS owners justify this loss in the MB forum while telling you where to best invest your cash. Some great, low mileage deals on the used lot looking attractive, unfortunately the car is not. Good news if you bought a Kia Rio, you only lost $21 in the first year, unless it was stolen. I’ve been saying the same thing. It’s just not a 5 series. It’s fine as a car, but it’s a joke of a 5 series BMW.

If the 2030 Agenda fails and the technocratic Davos nutters are left with their pants down, BMW didn't bet the farm on a technology which is clearly not the answer to future transportation needs (and was never actually designed to be). |

It just sits too high and looks too bland for me.

Joe-BMW33 I don’t what thread it was but this is as good as any - you are right. I was designated driver to dinner last night and drove a friend’s new Denali. The brakes feel really weak. Maybe I’m just spoiled but it took a couple stops to get used to it.

The G60 is compromised inside and out. Yet there really isn’t anything that matches it in 540iX form within $20k. Unless it’s maybe a brand I thus far haven’t considered.
An X5 40i is great, but I don’t want an SUV. Similar with an X3 M40 and we already have an X3 in the garage. An 8GC is a leading contender but isn’t quite right for me and is at least 20k more new. A Macan S drives great, but again SUV and >90k properly optioned. The Panamera is more than an 8GC. It goes on. I’m spending a fair amount of time on the G60 forum and many new owners are coming from other brands, some from G30 leases so either don’t have the longtime BMW owner expectations, wanted the EV with better luxury, or some who have conceded it’s compromises vs the G30. Meanwhile I’ll keep driving my wonderful 540i.
