LCI steering wheel on pre-LCI M550i

I recently purchased an LCI steering wheel for my pre-LCI BMW M550i 2018. I read through the recent forums to no avail. And haven’t seen an update on the forums in years.

I currently have acc, and the wheel aligns itself. How would I be able to retrofit the LCI steering wheel to my pre-LCI car while keeping the acc and alignment of the wheel?

No to be flip, but don’t you think you should have done this homework and research before you purchased it?

Regardless, what do you mean by alignment? You mean lane keep? Did you buy an LCI wheel with these buttons?

I did my research before purchasing the steering wheel with the LCI buttons and came to the conclusion that the only thing I need to prevent errors from popping up are the vibro motor.

Regardless, my fear was, since I purchased the wheel back in September and there’s been no updates in any forums since then, that my hypothesis maybe wrong.

What’s the difference in the steering wheel? I’ve never noticed any.

It would help if you post what errors you're getting.

Also, I assume you got the LCI steering wheel for DAP, right? Because the LCI DAP steering wheel has modules and wiring not found in the no-DAP LCI steering wheel, which are probably the modules you need to get it working for your pre-LCI car.

The button arrangement is a bit different and the LCI has the LEDs that illinute green or yellow in connection with the assisted driving and automated parking
(You can choose to turn this off in idrive if you wish)

Oh right, that makes sense. But if you didn’t know that, they look the same right?

If you can take a pic of your current wheel I can help you with correct steering wheels an buttons and coding of course

From a distance they look the same but look closer and there are differences

The rotating knobs on there are slightly different as is the button arrangement.
The differences may less if you don’t have the assisted driving stuff.

If pushed , I’d say the pre LCI feel slightly better in quality

I turned the LEDs off as I found them illuminating yellow when prompted to put your hands back on the wheel just a bit too “ in your face”. Luckily idrive gives you that option
It was one option that a software update undid along with a few other minor things
