530e oil in second coolant reservoir

Hello, I recently changed termostat for my BMW 530e because coolant was leaking from main coolant reservoir and now I noticed that the smaller coolant reservoir is full of oil (even leaking from the top). Is it safe to drive? How is it possible for oil to be in here?

Your oil filter housing gasket gave up. Once the gasket is torn inside the housing, your coolant and oil will mix. It’s a labor intensive work to replace it. Lots of posts in the f30 forum and YouTube videos on how to do it. Can be done at home with right tools. After you replace it, you’d have to flush the coolant multiple times until no more oil appears in the tank.

I wouldn’t drive it until it gets fixed.

But the oil is in the turbot coolant reservoir.

Possibly head gasket issue then. Intake manifold gasket too.

And I would recommend changing the oil as well before you drive. --Bob
