Thumbs up G30 5 Series M Sport Rendered

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Hello all.

Sorry it took a while to do this final G30 5 Series M Sport rendering, but I hope you will like it. I got high res pics from Jason to do the work (and it took a while!) and I think that within a detail or two, this should be very close to the production version...

Cheers!

Pic before, after, then animated gif to show the transformation, then put in a nicer landscape

(sorry had to put some watermarks on the renders so others can't take credit for the work)

07/05/2016

Edited with a 3/4 rear view of the car and a couple of adjustments side character line in the 3/4 front view.

3/4 front view, 3/4 rear view and profile view (with original, rendered version and animated gif to show the render work)

As you can all see it's an evolutionary design with elements from the current 3 series (front) and 7 series (profile). The distinguishing feature of this car is the double character line on its side. I hope I have made it justice but I'm sure I've missed some elements...

Enjoy!

I like it, progressive and sporty without being too "out there" the right hallmarks of a BMW.

And I may be in the minority but I like that the lights meet the grill a la F30

Not bad. Although just a render, this M-Sport treatment looks a lot more suitable on the 5er than it did on the 7er.

Good job on the rendering but I think you need to revise the hood. If you look at the left side, you can see the highlight curves towards the left top of the front grill. Its not straight as you have made. I think it's similar to the sculpting on the current hood.

Well spotted, you're right

I like the front, the car has presence, a bit of 4 series m sport about it, I think

Looks great but I really feel like they're shooting themselves in the foot with this headlight to grille thing. The f10 headlights look much more elegant than these. It's like they design a very pretty car and then force the headlights over a few extra inches. This is really the case on the f30 for which I think looks pretty bad but just my opinion.

Disagree - current F10 lights make the car look "old". F30 look is younger and I'm with the modern F30 look.

Personally I don't like it. The F10 was a masterpiece.

The hood on the f10 had creases converging on the roundel, and additional creases converging on the grille. That was a stunning look. The design here seems very generic by comparison.

The shoulder line also looks weak compared with the current F10. It makes the side seem more flat and less muscular. It is less muscular than the shoulder line on the Mercedes and that is a bad sign.

Nice work but this design looks dated already. The last 3 generations of the 5 series saw big changes in terms of design but this one looks like an LCI at best

It should be lighter and a better steering it's a must!
I don't think it will be so close in design with the 7.

I think it looks good, that is not the problem with the design. The problem is the similarity to the G11. How can the normal folk distinguish this from the G11?

Personally not a fan of the new grille. I don't mind that the grille and the headlamps meet, but it's just something unaesthetic about it.

Overall pretty conservative but not necessarily in a bad way. On first glance, I dislike the large headlamps (but I also prefer the detailing on the xenons with the double circle DRLs to the led u shapes). Even with the oversized wheels in the rendering they just seem a little disproportional. Same goes for the wide outer grill surround.

Not too shabby. A little critique:

The hood contours and lines are in a "wake" like the F10 coming from the corner of the grills

The grills slats need revising

The lower door and side will have much deeper contouring and the accent strip should be sharp body crease connecting to the bottom of the air breather.

The second shoulder line extending to the rear is much stronger and gives the rear wheel more presence.
