This F90 M5 prototype was recently spotted in LA and recorded on video. It's the first reported F90 M5 sighting in the U.S. since a prototype was spotted entering the US at the Los Angeles International Airport (photos reposted below).

Love it! Looks like a grown up and more sophisticated F80.

Same exact thought. Although I guess I can brag that I have the same tires as an M5

While testing they try many tires because they are given to them for free. It does not mean you will end up with those tire when the car goes on sale. Good Eyes BTW!

They're a really good tire (V105), production ready for the new system replacing TPMS, and significantly reduces the chance of extended no stock status for replacements as has been an issue for the past year. Michelin, Continental, and Yokohama are slated to be the OEM suppliers.

They are NOT free at all. They're quite expensive in fact as they are modified for OE specific fitment.

These prototype pictures were taken a number of months ago and showed 265/40/19 which is the same as the current m5 19" option, any word on what the M5 will have, the same tyres all round or possibly something a bit wider?

265/295 in 19 and 20 are production size. Are they going to be the only option? Just have to be patient.

The LA cars are not the only ones in the US. There are east coast cars as well including the EPA certification vehicles.

why do the testers freakout when they're spotted? are their jobs on the line if someone was to get footage? were they running errands while on the clock? will there pay be reduced for exposure?

Did they have an "unauthorized passenger?"

The two main reasons in the US:

- The spotters often drive erratically and are alone.

- Real world testing cannot be avoided and secure stops are not always available. Evaluation drivers and engineers have to piss, eat, and sleep just like everyone. Too frequently amateur spotters just won't stop pursuing unfortunately and it creates a significant inconvenience and additional work.
