So wait, LED fog lights are no longer available on the non-MSport 540i? That seems odd!

I agree, LED Fog Light removal seems odd, but comparing the 2018 530e pricing guide to this one, 5A1 is no longer standard equipment.

For the chrome door handle strip, how can we tell it’s been removed? 346 Chrome Line Exterior is still standard equipment.

Call me picky but shouldn't standard options be listed first for all models? Personally, I would be more inclined to select from the dizzying array of options AFTER seeing what's already standard on each model.

So, why exactly, is BMW selling Apple CarPlay as a subscription service?

There is nothing to "subscribe" to... The technology is either installed or not.

I guess we are lucky that BMW is not selling access to the built-in hard drive for music storage as a yearly subscription as well...

For a technology that is not theirs. Mine was lifetime but when I took my car to the dealer to retrospectively activate dipping mirrors, the software updates converted it to a 3 year subscription!!

All my protestations have been ignored by the BMW UK and the dealer. Apple CarPlay was not that important to me so I did not pursue it with all my usual vigour. However with iOS 12 bringing google map and Waze to CarPlay, it might become very useful

No... A "technology" (software) would be licensed via a one-time fee. Carplay is NOT a "Service" (which would justify an ongoing subscription). Research indicates Apple charges about $300 (once) for the license...

Biggest MY2019 change in my opinion:

Active Driving Assistant (5AS), which includes Blind Spot Detection, Lane Departure Warning, Frontal Collision Warning, Pedestrian Warning with braking, City Collision Mitigation with braking, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

But I am confused about the LED headlights no longer standard... So is BMW reverting back to halogens for the G30?

LED foglight no longer standard not LED headlight!

I would actually prefer the lower front air intake without those ugly LED foglight. I believe the car would look much more aggressive

What I was saying: Those of us that bought G30 quite early in its life bought Apple CarPlay as a one-off lifetime option (no subscription and not time limited). However if you do a dealer software update, it gets converted to a time limited 3- year subscription

looks like no major change for the M5 beside Apple car play going to subscription and the addition of the competition package model!

Apple CarPlay is now a subscription service??? That doesn't even make sense! Apple should sue BMW.

Why not just point a gun at our heads when we walk in the showroom. Armed robbery would be more honorable than this thievery

I hate CarPlay - it’s such garbage, maybe iOS 12 will make it better but we will see.

I am glad they charge for CarPlay, as opposed to raising the base price and “giving it to you for free” whether you like it or not.. I am glad I got my new G30 without it.
