In November 2002 a Titanium Silver Z4 3.0i came over a bridge toward me and I almost wrecked my 323i. I turned around and followed it back to the dealer. It was on a test drive. I know then that I would have one.
i did however see pictures in publications prior to that and was not very impressed. To this day, I believe the car looks better in person than in print.
