There is a report on Reddit where someone replaced their battery and restored performance.
As much as I'm an Apple hater, reading through the specifics on this controversy, it's a non issue. Apple did the right thing in their code to help extend the life of older hardware. People are scum and are blowing this out of proportion with some looking to try to cash in. I hope those ticks get their lawsuit tossed out.
