Having owned many BMWs, some new, some used, some first year, some LCI, most neither, and I can honestly report that it just doesn't matter. It's a big giant crap shoot if you get a good one or a problematic one.
A factor too is what kind of service department you have, the luck of the draw as to which tech gets it and what kind of day he or she is having. You know, rushed, hung-over, enthusiastic, etc.
Glad to read that overall, the OP is happy with their car.
