Has anyone had to replace theres? 😭 2020 M550i only has 41k miles this really sucks, praying its not crazy expensive.

Next question for BMW Service Writer:

I can buy an extended warranty but I was wondering how long do I need to have the warranty active on the car before I can take the car in to get warranty work on the differential? Is there a time frame, like do I need to have it for a week/month until I can say hey I have this weird sound/issue to be able to try using that versus paying an arm and a leg?
I haven’t had any issues with the differential, but I can offer some information on extended warranties. Typically you will be required to wait a minimum of 30 days and 1,000 miles from date of purchase of the warranty and mileage on the vehicle at time of purchase before they will cover an issue with the vehicle. And even then, if something is found within the first 60 days or 2,000 miles typically they will fight/deny payment for the issue, as the warranty company will claim this was a pre-existing issue with the vehicle and is not covered. Always be sure to read ALL of the fine print of the contract, this is where exclusions and limitations of the warranty/extended service contract are laid out.

Now this is just a generalization of how these extended warranty/extended service contracts work on vehicles that are over 5 years old and beyond their manufacturer’s original warranty. Your experience and other’s experiences may be vastly different.

Good luck with your differential, and I hope this was helpful. Cheers
