On a realistic note, why do you need 500whp? Is this a track car or is this just a power figure you want? If your looking for that kind of power with reliability pick up a Vette or the new skyline. Even though they don't hit the figure you're looking for, you should be able to with little mods. Basically, the less horsepower you start with the amount of tuning required to reach your target will make the car unreliable. I'd suggest starting with a base vehicle that's already rated close to 400hp, squeezing the last 100 should be cake. Good luck.

I guess I'm the exception to your rule!
I made 540 wheel and the car was as sweet as a baby and would get 21-22 on the highway and I drove it 13 hours each way to IL. Had a back seat and all!
N/A 500 wheel will be tough for reliability or at least drivability.
