I never said it needed to be straight outta the camera but I also highly doubt most people are ONLY using contrast and lighting (burn/dodge) techniques to enhance their photos.
If all you need are some curves and levels enhancements I'd still consider that PRETTY DARN CLOSE to straight outta the camera.
