The mic is good. The built-in speaker on the 60D isn't that good for playback, a bit of hiss. When I play the audio on my Mac it sounds fine. You may want to also look at the RODE MicPro also. I'm still messing around with the 60Ds manual audio settings for the best playback and other settings. My first Canon camera. So far this is a really awesome camera!
