I've never had the pleasure of driving an M5, but have had my CPO M550i (2018 model year) for about nine months. My commute is about 70 miles round trip when I'm not working from home. Driving at 65-75mph on the highway with the cruise control on in comfort mode most of the way, I'm averaging about 23mpg (US) with mostly stop and go driving making that number what it is. The M550i is a beautiful daily driver with plenty enough power and "savagery" to land you in jail any time you want to press your luck, hence the cruise control on the highway. I've seen 150mph in this car and it comes with no drama at all. It's by far the best sedan I've ever driven, and I'm looking forward to making a road trip to visit my daughter this year.
