I guess you are right, BMW know their markets: give them "performance" pap if they wanna pay for it. Carbon fiber is probably the best thing ever invented to lure in (& rip off) car posers.
However, having said that, I'd love to have a CF hood or CF trunk lid on my 2019 M550i, painted body colour of course, if that could reduce the curb weight by some 200 lb.
