Last night my wife and I met my cousin and her husband, who are in from out of town, for dinner. I brought a bottle of 2012 Caymus Special Selection. I never noticed until the foil was removed but the cork was leaking. Fortunately, the wine was fine (great actually). But I’m a little gun shy with Caymus now. Our only other bottle that has ever had a cork problem was a 2013 Caymus Special Selection (which Caymus replaced at no charge). We have some more 2013-2015 that we may accelerate drinking, which is a shame because I wanted to hang onto them longer term. (Wines are stores in a fridge at a consistent 55-56 degrees and 70-80% humidity.)
Yeah, it happens to the best of them. Could be the cork, could have been overfilled, could have gotten warm during transit. My Dad has some top tier burgundies that should be weeping/leaking, but do.
