Yeah, not sure why BMW requires replacement of torque converter with MPPSK.

If you look at the P/Ns, the replacement torque converter is actually the same P/N as the torque converters in the B58 equipped F-series (F30, F32, etc.). The G30 540i/x has a different torque converter.

Looking at Bimmercat/RealOEM, you will find that G30 one is heavier than F3x one. Perhaps for fuel economy or comfort reasons due to G30 being more "luxury" oriented vs. F3x? Who knows...just my hunch.
