A complete lack of all lights is so many orders of magnitude bigger than the problem of a blue line in the headlights. This is basically an aesthetic issue.
Did any of you guys take a night test drive of the car before you bought it? If so that line would have presumably shown up then. If it wasn't in the test drive vehicle then it's fair to expect it to not be in the car you purchase.

Mute point now, but I always take a car for a 24 hour test drive before putting on to paper
