Don't discount the e36 328i sport. I don't think there's any performance difference between Euro & US spec & is petty much just as quick as the US spec 3 litre m3.
I owned a silver 1996 328is coupe for over eleven years & 75,000 miles. Other than routine consumables the only things that broke were the water pump & radiator, best Bmw I've owned
