I don't think I'd go deer hunting with 223/556. Isn't the point of the heavier rounds (30-06, 7mm, etc.) that it won't shear as much if it encounters branches en route to the deer? Most people around here are hunting deer from a decent distance where I would think the 223/556 would under penetrate (miss key organs) and end up maiming the animal.
