You can fit three, possibly 4 on there. Not that I've had the opportunity to find out.
I'm sure the opportunity will arise with the girlfriend at some point, it just hasn't yet.
Side note: I also have the matching chair and ottoman, although I've only sat on it once or twice. My oldest son claimed it a few years ago and it's his throne. He's the only person that ever sits in it and that's about once a month when he stops by.
