///M, I did not claim BMW use "carbon core" technology, but VW has developed a very good architecture - really two, one transverse and one longitudinal engine installation- which saves about 80 kg from previous architecture. They donīt need to use expensive materials - like carbon, magnesium and aluminium - but might do it anyway in some "exotic" models, hence the 100 kg.

BMW is currently using a lot of al in chassis components - not so in X3/X4 body.

BMW is supposedly using new 3-series architecture for G01/G02, but with some unique parts for X3/X4. I have seen somewhere that BMW is supposedly utilising its manufacturing of carbon for electric vehicles, to reduce weight in new architecture.
